A new and unexpected rumor is circulating about an upcoming Zombies DLC map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and it has the community buzzing. According to well-known insider TheGhostOfHope, who has a strong track record for accurate Call of Duty leaks, multiple sources have claimed that Black Ops 7 Zombies will receive a remake of Alpha Omega, originally released in Black Ops 4. As with any unofficial information, this should be treated cautiously, but the discussion it has generated is significant.
Alpha Omega was itself a remake and major expansion of Nuketown Zombies from Black Ops 2. It featured a larger above-ground playspace with expanded houses and surrounding areas, along with a substantial underground bunker and research facility—an area long speculated about within the Aether storyline before the map brought it to life. Despite its narrative strengths, Alpha Omega was not considered one of the most beloved or iconic Zombies maps, especially compared with classics that have yet to be remade, such as Buried, Die Rise, or several Black Ops 3 maps.
Because Alpha Omega released in 2019—only six years ago—the rumor of it receiving a remake again has left many players confused. Treyarch has rarely, if ever, remade a map that was already a remake. The closest example is Die Maschine, which reimagined Nacht der Untoten in a dramatically expanded and modernized map. If Treyarch is indeed choosing to remake Alpha Omega, the goal may not be simple nostalgia but a chance to rebuild the experience in a way that more fully captures the original creative intentions.
Many of the criticisms of Alpha Omega stemmed from its gameplay rather than its story. The setup process, especially Pack-a-Punch activation and reactivation, felt repetitive and frustrating. Much of its enemy roster used recycled enemy types such as Jolting Jacks, Nova Crawlers, and Lightning Hellhounds. Its Wonder Weapons were variations of the Ray Gun Mark II, which later appeared in Black Ops 6 Zombies in similar elemental forms—suggesting possible reuse of concepts or earlier development overlap. Visually, the map was also considered less exciting than others, relying on a muted color palette compared with more vibrant releases.
However, the narrative elements of Alpha Omega were highly praised. The map explored the origins of the Avogadro, expanded on Marlton’s backstory during Nuketown, revealed lore about the Pentagon Thief and the fourth Marine from Verrückt, and provided some of the strongest Aether storytelling written by Craig Houston and Jason Blundell. It also uniquely allowed players to choose from eight characters—Primis and Ultimis—long before Black Ops 7 adopted multi-character selection as a standard feature. If Treyarch intends to revisit Alpha Omega, it may be for its narrative potential rather than its gameplay framework.
Adding to the rumor, TheGhostOfHope also claimed that Nuketown Zombies will return as a separate survival-style remaster alongside the Alpha Omega remake. For players who prefer the pure, classic survival experience, this provides a silver lining even if the choice of Alpha Omega remains controversial.
The broader leak suggests that Black Ops 7 Zombies may receive five DLC round-based maps, supported by references found in leaked codenames. With Astra Malorum already confirmed as the first DLC map, four more appear to be planned—an unusually large amount of post-launch content and a promising sign for long-term Zombies support. The hype has reached a point where some fans prepare by choosing to buy a cheap CoD BO7 Bot Lobby just to experiment with loadouts stress-free.
While nothing is official until Treyarch or Activision confirms it, the idea of an Alpha Omega remake has already become one of the most debated Zombies topics of the year. Whether viewed as an unexpected opportunity for reinvention or a questionable use of development resources, the rumor highlights how passionate the community remains about the series’ map legacy. As anticipation builds for Black Ops 7’s post-launch roadmap, players will be watching closely to see whether Nuketown, Alpha Omega, or entirely different experiences await in the months ahead.
